Patrick Coveney is chief executive officer (“CEO”) of Greencore Group plc. Prior to his appointment as CEO in December 2007, Patrick served as the Group’s CFO for two and a half years. Patrick has led the business through a period of strong growth and significant portfolio change, into a focussed, multi-country convenience foods company. Greencore’s annual turnover is now c. £1.2 billion and it has more than 12,000 employees across Ireland, the UK and the US. It sits in the FTSE 250 index, with a market capitalisation of £1.1 billion.
Prior to joining Greencore, Patrick was a partner at McKinsey & Company focussed on the food and beverage industry; finishing his career there as Managing Partner for McKinsey in Ireland.
He is a Non-Executive Director of Glanbia plc, the leading global performance nutrition and ingredients group with operations in 32 countries. It has leading market positions in sports nutrition, and dairy ingredients.
Patrick is a former Rhodes Scholar at New College, Oxford where he earned an M.Phil and D.Phil in Management Studies. He holds a B.Comm (First Class) from University College Cork, where he was overall Graduate of the Year in 1992.
Outside of work, Patrick is a keen sportsman. He played senior rugby for UCC, Oxford and London Irish and represented Ireland and Munster at underage level – he now sits on Munster Rugby’s Commercial Board.
Patrick served as President of the Dublin Chamber of Commerce in 2012.
